The purpose of this email is to explain some of my thoughts and reasonings behind recent decisions that may have affected people in Prairie Public Schools.
Grateful
I am grateful for my time in the district. The last four years have been a whirlwind of ups and downs–pandemics, becoming a mom, a huge grade shift, building construction, room switching, learning more than I knew was possible about education. I met incredible, passionate, funny, and lovely people who persevered alongside me. Gordon Elementary became my home in a very short period of time.
I discovered that I love teaching. While I did come into the profession bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I grew to understand the depth and importance of this profession. And how well it is suited to my personality and strengths.
Challenges
The last couple of years have been challenging. I became a mom. There have been growing pains that come along with a change in leadership. I took a continuing education class about the Science of Reading that conflicted with our current methods of teaching. I was diagnosed at the age of 35 with Attention Deficit Disorder. My dad was diagnosed with a rare form of stage 4 brain cancer and my family disagreed on how to proceed with treatment.
My Intention
Any one of these factors could have come into play when it came to recounting the dates and circumstances of my leaving the district. It was not my intention to misrepresent the circumstances.
Best,
Agatha Davis Rose
